Welcome to Country Place Elementary School
Inspiring the next generation!

We serve grades K-8 in Tolleson, Arizona, as one of six schools in the Littleton Elementary District. Tolleson is a friendly, family-oriented community with a small-town atmosphere, situated 10 miles west of downtown Phoenix. We celebrate our diverse population and support a positive environment that maintains and enriches the quality of life for everyone.

A Message from Our Principal

We hope everyone is enjoying learning and leading this year!

Our learning focus this month is the fantastic elastic brain! New research is showing the remarkable capacity for our brains to grow! In one study, researchers found that the hippocampus of London cab drivers is significantly larger than that of London bus drivers and retired cab drivers. The part of their brain that helps them remember complex spatial information, the hippocampus, actually grew larger after studying the 25,000 streets and 20,000 landmarks in London! Doing difficult things actually grows our brains! We all have genius!

This month’s leadership focus is Habit 6 (Synergize). Together is better! We base the principles of synergy on creativity, cooperation, diversity, and humility. The common, ineffective paradigm is compromise. The highly effective paradigm is, “Let’s come up with something that’s better than what either of us has in mind.” We call this concept seeking a third alternative. If I want to play basketball and you want to play baseball, we both might want to play football. In order to reach synergy, we need to be willing, value differences, clarify the end in mind, seek first to understand and then be understood, and then explore alternatives. In this manner, we can multiply our effectiveness! When we compromise 1+1 = 1.5. When we synergize 1+1 = 3 or 5 or 100!

Leadership day is coming in March! March 29 is our 2nd Annual Country Place Leadership Day.

Remember, change starts with each of us!

Your partner in learning and leading,

Dr. Cagle
